Após o lançamento do seu novo álbum “Blond”, Frank Ocean revelou na revista “Boy’s Don’t Cry”, anexa ao álbum e produzida pelo músico, uma lista dos seus filmes e dos seus registos musicais prediletos. Entre eles, destacam-se alguns realizados por Akira Kurosawa, Stanley Kubrick, Andrei Tarkovsky, Francis Ford Coppola, Orson Welles, Martin Scorsese ou Ingmar Bergman. Todo este conjunto permitiu que o norte-americano se inspirasse na construção das suas letras.
